What Is The Gathering Place?

The Gathering Place is a nonprofit senior activity center.  Seniors participate in activities, classes, programs, trips and receive services.

What are the hours?

8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.  Open weekends and evenings for special events or rentals

Do I have to be a member?

Membership is optional.  The yearly fee is $10.  You do not have to be a senior or a resident of Milton to be a member.  Members receive discounts on trips and some programs.

How do I find out about activities and events?

A monthly newsletter is available at The Gathering Place or can be mailed to you for $7 per year.  Information is also available in the Milton Courier, Janesville Gazette and Edgerton Reporter.

What are some of the activities?

Aero-toning, Armchair Aerobics, Pinochle, Euchre, Bridge, Computer classes, Music Variety, Current Events, Ceramics, Blue Notes Chorus, Yoga, Pool, Dominoes, Rubber Stamping, Garden Club, Knitting/Crochet, Sing-Alongs, quilt tying, movies, Bingo, Scrapbooking, Book Club, and special events and classes which are offered monthly.

How can I sign up for activities, services or trips?

Call The Gathering Place at 608-868-3500 or stop in and sign up. 

Is there a cost for activities?

There is a wide range of activities with varied costs and many free activities. 

What services are provided?

We offer many services including:  Foot Clinics, Massage Therapy, Benefit Specialist, Nutritionist, Nutrition Site, video, audio book and book lending, Blood Pressure Screening, Tax Assistance, Exercise equipment, Home delivered meals, Energy Assistance, Flu/pneumonia shots, rental of the facility, referrals and information.

Is there a nutrition site?

Yes.  We serve meals Monday through Friday at noon. Reservations must be in by noon the day before dining with us. A donation of at least $2.50 is requested. No one is ever turned away if they cannot afford the donation. The menu is published in our newsletter and in local newspapers.  

Can I rent the facility?

Yes, The Gathering Place is available for rental when not in use by the seniors. Contact the staff about cost and date availability.

How can I volunteer at The Gathering Place?

Call or stop by the reception desk and leave your name and phone number and pickup a volunteer packet. The staff or Volunteer Coordinator will call you to discuss possible volunteer activities.
